Best Back to School Activities

Best Back to School Activities

As the summer holidays comes to an end, now comes the dreaded time for all teachers... planning the first week back! There are many great activities that can help with getting back into routine and I have collated a few of the best ones here.

Classroom Scavenger Hunt

A scavenger hunt is a fun way to kick off the new school year. Students can work in teams to search around the classroom for each of the items on the sheet. This activity is key to helping children getting comfortable and familiar in their learning environment. In addition to this, children can develop teamworking and communication skills amongst classmates.

Memories that Stick

Back to school activity printable. This memories that stick activity is a fun, engaging, back to school activity that your children will love. Perfect for KS1 and KS2
One of the best parts of an experience coming to an end is reflecting on the memories that were created. It's healthy to relive the laughs, cries, and even mistakes that the summer holidays can bring - what a way to grow yourself!
With this back to school resource, your students will think about all of the memories that have stuck with them throughout the summer holidays! Write some memories on the cactus pears to create your memory cactus! An illustration of their favourite memory will complete the cactus to make this a sharp ;) display for your classroom!

Holiday Snapshot

This resource was designed for the end of the year, however, we think that this would be perfect as a back to school resource too! Children draw or write in each of the square snapshots one of their highlights of the summer holiday. They can then colour in and design their camera. Once this has been completed, all you need is a couple of strips of paper, some glue and you have your holiday snapshots complete!

Colour by Number

Minecraft color by number for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Minecraft colour by number printable for children in KS1 and KS2, kindegarden, elementary school
This is a great activity to get children revising those mathematical skills that they have probably not even thought about over the summer holidays! We have designed a range of Minecraft colour by number activities that are great for engaging children that wouldn't normally enjoy math. There are addition, subtraction, and multiplication sheets that cover all of the areas that need to be revised. All children need to do is find the colour that matches that sum that they are working on and they are left with a beautiful and colourful work of art!
